Camlachie Athletic Association Release Guidelines

2018 - 2019

Release Guidelines

Any player currently in our OBA program can have a parent/guardian request an OBA playing release from the Camlachie Athletic Association (CAA).

CAA is not mandated to release any player.

CAA seeks to develop a stronger OBA program. To that end:

CAA will not give a full release to any players between June 15th and April 1st.

CAA as per guidelines from Western County Ball Association (WCBA) may grant permission to practice and try-out with another centre.

CAA is not obliged to grant permission to practice and try-out with another centre.

Permission to practice and try out is not a release or promise of a future release and may be withdrawn at any time by CAA.

Where CAA has no intention of fielding an OBA team or registration or coach availability does not warrant an OBA team at various levels, a letter will be provided advising that there will be no team for the season.

When a player has been offered a position or a position is available on a CAA OBA team, releases may not be given.

Requests for releases can be provided electronically to [email protected]. Requests must be made by Parent/Guardian and include players full name, address, telephone number, date of birth, email and centre they want to practice or try out with. More than one release may be required depending upon practice/try-out centre location.

All release requests will be responded to within 7 days to confirm their receipt. If you do not get a response within 7 days, you must assume we did not receive your request. In that event please contact the CAA Secretary who will confirm your request [email protected].

Coaches for the applicable request may be consulted prior to a decision on any release.

CAA may request that the player attend at least two CAA try-outs before a decision is made.

Players refusing to make themselves available to attend CAA try-outs will be considered in breach of this policy and are no longer eligible to request a release for that year.

CAA will hold a special meeting to deal with remaining releases. Quorum for this meeting shall be 5 CAA Board Members. As soon as possible after that meeting we will notify requesters of the decision to grant or deny any release.

Parents/Guardians have the right to appeal CAA’s release decision by contacting Western County Ball Association.
